Innovation skills for people and organizations
Innovating in an ever- changing world is not easy. As if external uncertainties about the market and your users (is this what they are waiting for?), the technologies and resources to be deployed (will we be able to do that?) or the business model (will we be able to benefit from this?)aren’t enough, resistance can often also be felt internally in the organisation. It is therefore important, when it comes to innovation, not only to invest in innovation as a creator “output” in the form of new products and services, but also to invest in the “engine” of your own innovative capacity: your people, your processes, your culture. If you look at what prevents organizations from innovating, we see a number of important factors:
- The lack of a shared vision and purpose (purpose and leadership)
- Insufficient control of the innovation portfolio (strategy)
- The lack of the right mindset and skills in your team (empathy, optimism)
- The lack of professionalized processes and methodologies that lead to innovation (skills & capabilities)
The above factors are difficult to implement top-down, and must also be fed and supported bottom-up.
In practice, Design Thinking appears to be an ideal vehicle for working on these four cornerstones of an entrepreneurial organization, one project at a time.

About Remco Lenstra
I am Remco, the “RE“ in RE-FRAMED. I am a design thinker, innovation engine, future maker, healthy critical, but always optimistic and future-oriented.
From an academic foundation I guide organizations and people in building the path to a preferable future, one product, service or project at a time.
I am a passionate speaker and facilitator, published author, strategic thinker and a servant leader in complex environments. I rely on 20 years of experience in Innovation management, Design Thinking, Service Design, Business modeling, systemic thinking and transformation thinking to make the unknown future with confidence.
All this from the expertise of Design thinking.
Besides RE-FRAMED I am active as Academic Director Business Design Thinking at Antwerp Management School, guest professor at EDHEC business school in Lille and KMBS Business School in Kiev.
